My fitness goals

Since suffering with my anxiety and PTSD which I explained briefly in this post. I’ve long been annoyed at my body and at myself for never sticking to regimes. I feel like the times I actually have stuck to going to the gym and fuelling my body with the right food makes my mental health improve leaps and bounds. Almost to the point where the little voice in my head stops talking at me 24/7 and takes a break for even weeks at a time.

Since moving and renovating our house I really wanted to go to a 24 hour gym. I’m the type of person to have a random urge to go workout at 11pm at night and unfortunately most gyms don’t allow you to rock up at silly hours. So when I found an Anytime Fitness I was chuffed. I’ve been steadily going back and then all of a sudden a few weeks ago the panic attacks started coming back, I didn’t want to work out or eat healthy. I just wanted to be fit but not put the graft in.

I wanted a PT that could get me back on track before I completely derailed and that’s when I stumbled across Floyd. I loved how supportive but challenging he seemed to be and before I knew it I was booked in for my first session. He explained to me about his strong girls list, a list of things he’s seen and finds impressive such as a girl doing 1 or even 10 chin ups. He encouraged me to make my own list of what I’d want to achieve.

So that’s what I’ve been doing, a list of things I find impressive/impossible to reach. But I’m starting to learn that impossible soon becomes possible if you try hard enough.

1. Do 1 chin up

2. Do 1 full military press up

3. Leg press 200kg

4. Carry 2x 20kg Jerry cans over 120m

5. Run 1.5 miles in under 9 min 30 secs

6. Do 44 press ups in 2 mins

7. Do 50 sit ups in 2 mins – DONE

8. Deadlift 100kg

9. Do 1 pistol squat on the bosu ball

10. Do 10 pistol squats on the bosu ball

11. Do a 3 min plank

12. Squat 50kg

13. Do a handstand (genuinely have never been able to hold myself )

14. Do the splits

15. Hip thrust 100kg – DONE

16. Hip thrust 150kg

17. Enter a race and complete it (tough mudder, spartan etc)

18. Fireman carry Andy

19. Run 5k

20. Do a 5 minute wall sit

A few I’ve already ticked off, I started making this list back in Feb, I’ll keep adding to it and once I’ve completed it I’ll carry on – it helps keep me accountable and gives me something to strive for.
